Using the ozonation in RAS project

Ozone (O3) is highly regarded in recirculating aquaculture due to its ability to improve water quality.

Because of its high oxidative potential, some of the pollutants and metabolic by-products are oxidized; thus, rendering them are less harmful for the cultured fish and making the culture environment more favorable.

An investigation from a group of Nofima reported “Ozone can be used continuously to improve water quality in recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS) without compromising the health of young salmon and their results showed “In summary, the suite of health and welfare indicators collectively indicated that continuous ozonation resulted in minimal physiological perturbations in salmon post-smolts. The results are expected to contribute to optimizing the rearing conditions for post-smolts in RAS”.
